Use in inflammatory and congestive conditions.

Burdock (arctium lappa)
Lymphatic. Helps to eliminate waste in the body, it is an anti-biotic, antiseptic, and antifungal, detoxifying herb.

Cleavers(Galium aparine)
Is one of the best tonics for the lymphatic system available. It treats swollen glands anywhere in the body and has been useful in the treatment of ulcers and tumors by lymphatic drainage which detoxifies the tissue. It is an alternative, lymphatic, helps remove obstructions, swelling. It is helpful in clearing the urinary tract with basis in the lymphatic drainage, which helps detoxify the kidneys keeping them in good working order.

Red Clover (Trifolium prataense)
Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) is a gentle yet powerful herb which has the ability to filter and carry toxins out of the bloodstream. Its abundant reddish purple little blooms can be seen cropping up in early spring, around lawns and fields. Red Clover, like Cleavers, also has a tonic action on the lymphatic system and helps the body to eliminate waste through diuretic action. Red Clover stimulates the liver as well, encouraging bile production and aiding in the detoxification process. Interestingly, Red Clover is phytoestrogenic, and can bind to estrogen receptors. The phytoestrogens are weaker than regular estrogen, which can be beneficial in regulating hormonal issues and during menopause when estrogen is low. This action, combined with the ability to cleanse the blood and stimulate the lymphatic system and liver, makes Red Clover a wonderful choice for an herbal spring detox, and has a noticeable clearing effect for many skin complaints. Red Clover may be brewed as an infusion, or taken as a tincture.

Red Root
is perhaps one of the best lymph decongestive herbs available. It works best for congested lymph and to offset age-related accumulation of fibrous tissue which can compromise optimal functionality. For sleepiness and heaviness after meals, mild swelling of the extremities and reduced digestive fire, red root scrubs the intestinal lymphatic-collecting ducts that deliver fats and proteins to the blood and supports a healthy and efficient drainage system.

Angelica
Angelica has strong diuretic properties that increase the frequency and quantity of urination, helping to rid the body of excess water, fat, salt and toxins. Its natural pain relieving properties make it a remarkable remedy for renal calculi, gout, arthritis and rheumatism. Angelica root may reduce urinary tract infections and protect kidneys. The coumarins in the root are a valuable herbal medication for reducing high-protein edemas, such as swelling of the lymph nodes (lymphedema). It is also used for treating psoriasis accompanying arthritis.

Mullein
This herb treats lymph congestion. The leaves and flowers activate lymph circulation and can be useful for swollen glands, especially when lymph nodes in the throat, neck, arms, and groin swell or are congested.

Plantain (plantago major)
Great for boosting the Immune system, combating infection, counters blood poisoning, removes toxins.

Calendula
As an internal tonic herb Calendula has phenomenal power in cleansing the lymphatic system and when there are the symptoms of lymph congestion such as swollen glands, heavy rings under the eyes, poor healing and fatigue then the three greatest herbs to work in this area are Calendula, Cleavers and Prickly Ash Bark, all best used in small doses (just a few mls a day of the combined tinctures) along with plenty of movement or massage.

Prickly Ash Bark
Constituents:Alkaloids (including berberine), coumarins, up to 4% volatile oils, resin, and tannin.
Actions:Circulatory Stimulant, Tonic, Alterative, Carminative, Diaphoretic, Hepatic, Sialogogue, astringent, and antiseptic.
The bark of the Prickly ash tree is one of the best tonic, alterative circulatory stimulants of the North American continent. Prickly ash bark helps ease the “full” or uncomfortable feeling associated with prostatitis (benign hypertrophy) and with pelvic congestion (of lymphatic origin) in both males and females.

Not only does prickly ash have a great stimulating effect on the cardiovascular system, but it is greatly stimulating to the entire lymphatic system, and thus encourages elimination of toxic metabolites from our bodies.

Not for Children or Nursing Mothers. May lower blood pressure.

Suggested Usage:
Hold one squirt under the tongue for 3 – 20 minutes, 3+ times/ day. Please read this article on additional things to do to help move lymphatic fluid and increase circulation.
