In women, Estrogen dominance or excess estrogen levels contribute to fibrocystic breasts, PMS, endometriosis, menopause symptoms, ovarian cysts and breast cancer in women. In men, excess estrogen contributes to symptoms of andropause (the male version of menopause) and is a likely contributor to prostate cancer, Insulin Resistance and Increased Belly Fat as a result.
Natural Aromatase inhibitors such as the natural herbs contained within AROMHIB™ mimic estrogen and bind to the receptors preventing the body’s Aromatase enzyme from converting testosterone and xenoestrogens (chemical estrogens) to the most toxic form of estrogen; Estradiol.
One should also make efforts to remove estrogenic substances from their daily life too, such as plastics and tap water, please read this article [Taming Estrogen Dominance].
Aromhib helps to lower estrogen dominance and is suitable for health concerns such as:
PCOS, Fibrocystic Breasts, high PSA & Prostate Health, Cysts, Belly Fat and Insulin Resistance
Breast cancer risk increases with more total life time unopposed estrogen exposure. Consider the following questions. How long have you been exposed and how much does your body make? How much are you taking in, whether bio-identical or chemical estrogen “mimickers” like in most pharmaceutical hormone products such as BC pills, HRT, pesticides or plasticisers? How efficiently do you detoxify estrogens?
Xenoestrogens are industrially made compounds that have estrogenic effects and believed to be a main culprit for rise in estrogen dominance plaguing the human race today. These compounds are found in pesticides, plastic containers, air fresheners, pharmaceutical drugs, artificial growth hormones and steroids.
It is advisable to avoid using colognes, air freshener and perfume that contain paraben (a xenoestrogen). Consume organic fruits and vegetables. It is always advisable to wash them before using. Avoid using plastic containers to store food and water. Consume fiber-rich food. This facilitates removal of toxins from the body.
For men, as aromatase enzyme levels increase, more testosterone is converted to estrogen, contributing to symptoms of andropause, such as weight gain, increased blood sugar, fatigue, depression, negative mood, irritability, anxiety, loss of memory, low libido, and loss of motivation. There is increasing evidence that risk of prostate cancer is increased when testosterone is converted to the more toxic DHT, dihydroxytestosterone and estrogen. There is currently disagreement among scientists as to whether the higher estrogen or the higher DHT levels are the likely culprits in prostate cancer.
Zinc is an essential nutrient which promotes healthy secretion of testosterone in the human body. This vital mineral prevents conversion of testosterone to estrogen (sex hormone in women) by inhibiting the action of aromatase (an enzyme). Zinc converts estrogen to testosterone and increases sperm count. Low levels of zinc have been linked to enlarged prostates and less-than-desirable levels of testosterone.
One key function of zinc besides the need for a strong immune and reproductive system is the importance of keeping that aromatase enzyme at bay. A few foods such as: saw palmetto, pumpkin seeds and nettles are loaded with zinc and help keep your aromatase levels in their normal range.
There are some obvious things we can all do.
Dietary Suggestions: Poor estrogen metabolism can be improved with dietary changes and AROMHIB™. Increasing healthy fibres binds estrogens and helps with their elimination.Losing excess body fat, especially abdominal fat, decreases the level of aromatase enzyme that makes the more toxic form of estrogen. Also, eat a balanced, low glycemic diet. A high carbohydrate diet increases insulin levels and insulin resistance, which contributes to both higher fat and higher aromatase levels. Avoid eating processed soy products and ensure healthy gut flora with probiotics, avoid foods and drinks that have been in contact with plastics, and avoid ingesting pesticides, which are all sources of estrogen-mimickers. Taking a good B Complex supplement or Nutritional yeast and Calcium D Glucarate also helps the liver to metabolise and excrete excess estrogens. Consume organic foods versus conventional foods, which have an abundance of synthetic pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, etc. Taking a good electrolyte drink such as Electrobal+ and Niacin B3 would help support detoxification pathways eliminating excess estrogens.
Passion flower extract is shown to elevate circulating testosterone by the inhibition of aromatase activity, a member of cytochrome P-450 enzyme family, which may prevent the conversion of testosterone to its metabolites. n the only published study that we are aware of pertaining to passion flower extract and testosterone levels, Dhawan and Sharma found that testosterone was increased when albino Wistar rats supplemented with passiflora extracts suspended in simple syrup . Based on these limited findings, additional research is necessary to ascertain the impact of passion flower extract on circulating testosterone in humans.
Astragalus Extract 5:1 400 mg
Astragalus is an adaptogenic herb, that has been used as a traditional chinese medicine for thousands of years. This herb helps your body to adapt to stress and brings your body into equilibrium. It is a very powerful immune booster that prevents colds, flus and upper respiratory infections because of it’s anti bacterial properties.
Curcuma Zedoaria Extract 5:1 400mg
Curcuma Zedoaria, also known as white turmeric, is native to India and Indonesia. It is a very powerful, anti-inflammatory root that has been traditionally used to reduce common inflammatory issues like arthritis, swelling, pain and stiffness. It has been shown to stop the production of Tumor necrosis factor- alpha (TNF-a), a cytokine that is responsible for inflammation. Curcuma Zedoaria is very effective in reducing the swelling and inflammation of the prostate.
Urtica Dioica (Nettle Root) 266mg
Like all green vegetables, nettle leaf is a micronutrient dense, nutritious food. The steroidal compounds stigmasterol, stimast-4-en-3-one, and campesterol have been shown to inhibit the prostatic sodium/potassium pump, which might contribute to nettles effects in BPH. Whole herb Urtica dioica was found to inhibit boch aromatase and 5-alpha reductase. Inhibition of 5-alpha reductase interferes with conversion of testosterone to DHT, high levels of which are associated with BPH and prostate cancer. Polysaccharides and caffeic malic acid (CMA) are both found to some extent in all parts of nettle. Polysaccharides stimulated T-lymphocyte activity and complement activation in vitro. Urtica polysaccharides and CMA demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity in vitro and in animal studies, via cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase inhibition.
